Designer Samira Atash
(who we first met back in 2004 in our first print issue)has
just launched an inspiring new collection of t-shirts that merge East
and West design and messages of hope. The "UNI-TEE" line is made
sweatshop free and is for both guys and gals. Choose to fight for
freedom in Afghanistan or go with an Eastern-inspired graphic design.
"UNI-TEE" collection, $38-$52 (varies with style)
October 23, 2007 October, as you probably know, is Breast Cancer Awareness
month and a slew of companies are going pink with special products parlaying
your shopping habit into a very good thing!
Get styled up and tuned in for a cause. We’ve rounded up our
three favorite buys for the cause here.
Forget the outward appearance and your closet for once.
Instead, contemplate your inner beauty to the soulful tunes of Asian
Groove. The
CD features the latest
flavors in bhangra, Indian pop, and cross-cultural fusions on its 11 tracks.
Plus, the Breast Cancer Site will fund 1.0 % of a mammogram for each CD
purchased. Find more goodies at the Breast Cancer Site, a true treasure trove.
You can always use more jeans, right? So invest in this hot style from
Fidelity. The Belladonna BC "Cross Your Heart" mid rise jean in a
classic dark wash features an exclusive pocket stitch and a fun charm
cluster. Proceeds go to Rethink Breast
Cancer a charity that reaches out to young people concerned about and affected
by breast cancer.
A beautiful heart and a great piece of jewelry. You’ll
get both when you go for the Little Pink Heart Necklace from Alex Woo. Proceeds
from the necklace go directly to the Women’s Cancer Research Fund.

Everyone at East West adores Kiran Rai’s eclectic, artful collection. Sir Alistair Rai mixes the designer's Indian background with her love of rock-n-roll and throws in global
messages about love and peace. Sometimes, you’ll even get some edgy social
commentary. We hear that her spring 2008 line is going Bollywood, and we can’t
wait! But back to the season that lays before us…this OM
hoodie for men exudes peace and harmony in one of the season’s top fashion
colors: gray/coal. I’m thinking…early holiday shopping…
Om Hoodie, $110-$115 (depending on size)
October 16, 2007 Be socially conscious and stylish at the same time thanks to
Artizan Sarai. The company works with producers, in Afghanistan, India, Morocco
and more, who support gender equity, fair labor, safe working conditions and have
environmental smarts. The end result is gorgeous jewels like this Afghan
silver and bead necklace , a great fall accessory.
Afghan Silver & Carnelian Bead
Necklace, $108
October 15, 2007Layering is SO in. And that means you can still don your favorite
short sleeve polo as Winter gusts toward us. We love this baby blue
number from our friends over at DesiThreads.com
because it has that subtle hint of the East, with an OM mantric symbol,
mixed with the style sensibilty of the West, an athletic fit and crisp
collar.
Mantric Ladies Sport Shirt, $34.99 |
