TV Watch, Feb 19, 2008 --Olympic gold medalist and Asian American icon Kristi Yamaguchi will appear on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.
The 12 cast members of Season 6 were announced on Monday
night's finale of Dance War. USA Today quoted Yamaguchi about appearing
on the show. "I have the feeling people will expect more from me. But
this is a whole new experience," she said. The cast will appear on
Thursday's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, and the new season of dancing
celebrities officially gets underway on March 17th.
--Speaking of Dance War, East West cover girl Carrie Ann Inaba
didn't take home the title with her team on Monday's finale, but Team
Carrie Ann nonetheless glittered til the end in a contest they
dominated early on. Team Carrie Ann was a picture of seamless
diversity, and we can't wait to hear more from powerhouse Mariel. --Dancing
will now take a backseat, at least briefly, to the vocal chords as the Top 24 prepare to
throw it down on the American Idol stage. We'll be closely watching
20-year-old Ramiele Malubay.
-- Taking a two-step away from reality TV, let's glance at this week's Cashmere Mafia. Lucy
Liu's role as Mia has gone to the dogs? Apparently, Mia falls for a
foster dog but is unable to pass pet adoption tests. On a more
interesting note, Jack
Yang returns as brain surgeon Jason Chung. Actress Purva Bedi also
makes a guest appearance. The episode airs on ABC this Wednesday.
